The entire Cars4funGarage is made up of me (a bit of a workaholic, to be honest), Marty, and my soulmate T\u00fdna, who takes care of everything related to upholstery, all kinds of details, cleaning, and brings the right feminine touch, cleanliness, and precision to the whole thing.\n\nAnyone who knows me knows I tend to give too much of myself in every direction, but at a certain point, that's just not sustainable. We're already dedicating everything we have to this, often at the expense of everything else \u2014 including ourselves. To order services click here<\/a> Please provide a brief description of the issue, along with basic information about the car (model designation \/ kW \/ or ideally VIN number).\nIt\u2019s also helpful to include what kind of previous service was done (especially if anything related to the current issue was already addressed), or what might have led up to the problem.\n\nFor cars that haven\u2019t been here before, I automatically carry out a full initial inspection.\n\nIf you're planning a more extensive service, seasonal prep, etc., please book well in advance \u2014 ideally at least 2 months ahead \u2014 and we\u2019ll definitely find a way to make it work.\nJust note that I\u2019m usually not able to give you a precise time slot more than a week in advance.\n\nFor small or urgent jobs for regular customers, I try to handle them as quickly as possible.\nUnfortunately, I never know exactly what\u2019s coming \u2014 some cars before yours might stay here a week, others a month.\n\nFor quick fixes, we can arrange something based on current workload.\nI do what I can, but as we all know \u2014 especially with older used cars \u2014 things can get unpredictable.\n\nAlso, please don\u2019t forget to set a budget limit, especially in the case of larger repairs or renovations, so I can tailor the work accordingly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle will be inspected as a whole \u2014 meaning everything that\u2019s normally visible without fully disassembling the car \u2014 along with diagnostics\/live data, and if needed, parallel diagnostics or oscilloscope testing.\nWe\u2019ll then discuss what\u2019s urgent, what can wait, and what should be done preventively. Based on that, I\u2019ll prepare a preliminary estimate, and then it\u2019s entirely up to you how to proceed.\n\nPlease keep in mind that with repairs on older vehicles, the actual cost of labor may change depending on what is discovered during disassembly and the extent of the real damage.\nAny additional parts will be confirmed with you before proceeding.\n\nUnless you request otherwise, standard repairs are done using a mix of original parts and high-quality aftermarket parts from the same manufacturers who produce for OEMs \u2014 parts that I\u2019ve personally tested and trust. For larger repairs or overhauls, please keep in mind that while the cost may be significant, you\u2019re not getting a brand-new car, gearbox, or engine.\nSo it\u2019s important to honestly consider whether you plan to keep the car for a few more years \u2014 otherwise, the investment might not be worth it in the long run.\n\nEvery older vehicle (especially those that were expensive when new or have been poorly maintained) will eventually require a major service.\nAnd unless you're able to do the work yourself using self-sourced parts at minimal markup, it's something to think through carefully.\n\nIn the case of more complex repairs, partial rebuilds, or overhauls of critical components, the warranty \u2014 as is standard in most garages \u2014 only applies to the specific parts that were found to be faulty and replaced during the repair.\n\nWhile it\u2019s highly unlikely, if something like a gearbox shaft breaks, an internal basket component fails, or an original piston cracks, or an older injector fails and causes further damage \u2014 these unfortunate events cannot be covered under warranty if the specific part wasn\u2019t identified as faulty or replaced during the repair.\nSimply put: a warranty cannot apply to components that weren\u2019t repaired, replaced, or showing any defects at the time.\n\nAgain, the chances of this are very low, but I need to be transparent about it.\n\nI always aim to recommend replacing as many interconnected or high-risk components as possible during major work to minimize future failure risks.\n\nHowever, by default, parts that don\u2019t show any clear damage or wear are not replaced, unless you request it.\nIt all depends on your budget, and we always follow the manufacturer\u2019s\/service manual guidelines.\n\nExceptions apply if we\u2019re building an engine or transmission for higher stress or racing purposes \u2014 I\u2019ll be happy to discuss that with you via message or in person.\n\nFor work examples, click here \u2192 general repairs<\/a> and routine repairs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Automatic transmissions \u2014 and generally all gearboxes, differentials, and engines \u2014 are highly sensitive to oil quality and age. Unfortunately, transmission maintenance is often the most overlooked.\nWhat\u2019s crucial is preventive care, regular checks, and timely oil changes. The standard service interval is usually between 40,000\u201360,000 km, and should be adjusted based on how the car is used:\nLong highway trips may allow for a longer interval, while city driving or sporty driving requires shortening it.\n\nMost automatic transmissions rely entirely on hydraulic pressure controlled by the mechatronic unit (the brain of the transmission). Failures in this system often lead to wear on clutches, torque converters, and other components.\nFor example, if the torque converter fails, simply replacing it without checking the mechatronic unit will most likely result in a greatly reduced lifespan of the new part.\n\nTherefore, a warranty cannot be provided for a new torque converter unless the rest of the system is properly checked during installation \u2014 especially output pressure from the mechatronic unit and related parameters.\n\nAnother common mistake with automatic transmissions \u2014 especially in tuned or modified cars \u2014 is using sporty or aggressive driving in \u201cD\u201d mode.\nIn these situations, most transmissions switch to a different internal map, often with lower output pressure, leading to more clutch slip and reduced lifespan.\n\nIf you enjoy spirited driving, always switch to \u201cS\u201d (Sport) mode or manual mode, if your vehicle supports it.\n\nIn line with this, it\u2019s important to mention:\nAny power increase (chip tuning, remapping, etc.) should always be accompanied by a transmission upgrade \u2014 either in software or hardware.\n\nFor transmissions like the ZF 6HP\/8HP or DCT, we offer XHP Flash \u2014 a software upgrade specifically designed to handle higher torque, reduce clutch slip, and offer significantly more customization, including improvements to the \u201cD\u201d mode (e.g. preventing low-RPM bogging).\n\nFor examples of automatic transmission repairs, click here \u2192 here.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chiptuning \/ Performance Tuning \u2013 A Few Things You Should Know\nThese days, basic tuning can be done by almost anyone \u2014 even remotely, as long as you\u2019re able to download and upload the ECU file yourself.\nThanks to services known as \u201cfile services\u201d, where a provider edits your map (sometimes within an hour) and sends it back to you, the barrier to entry is low. And while these files aren\u2019t necessarily bad, this method has become widespread among numerous companies in the country, many of which focus purely on profit and have little understanding of how things actually work or why.\n\nOf course, there are legitimate tuning companies out there doing things properly \u2014 but they\u2019re few and far between. And you can be sure you won't be getting a proper tune for just 3,000 CZK.\n\nWe\u2019ve even seen cases where customers paid for a tuning service but the map was never actually changed \u2014 they just experienced a placebo effect for a while. Unfortunately, we've had to deal with this more than once.\n\n\u26a0\ufe0f Be very cautious when choosing a tuner.\n\nLet\u2019s be honest \u2014 the tuning scene is pretty toxic overall.\nPeople constantly talk trash about each other while claiming to be the only real \u201cguru,\u201d yet most can\u2019t even explain what someone else is doing wrong, let alone properly analyze a map or back up their opinions with data. So what should we think about that? \ud83e\udd37\u200d\u2642\ufe0f\n\n\u201cYou have to tune only on a dyno!\u201d \u2013 Really?\nYou\u2019ve probably heard people say, \u201cA car can only be tuned properly on a dyno \u2013 there\u2019s no other way!\u201d \ud83d\ude04\nLet\u2019s break that down:\n\nYes, a dyno is ideal for comparing before\/after power figures, and we like to use it for that purpose. It also helps with more complex tuning on high-performance builds, where logging on the road can be unsafe or not possible.\n\nBut for standard Stage 1 setups on factory hardware, a dyno is not essential.\nIn fact, the best approach is often a combination of both dyno and road tuning \u2014 because nothing can truly replace real-world driving conditions.\n\nBoth methods use the same diagnostics and external sensor logging, whether you're on the street or a dyno. The dyno simply simulates real-world driving and makes the tuning process easier in a controlled environment \u2014 but it\u2019s not magic.\n\nStage 1 \u2013 What to Expect\nBasic performance tuning (Stage 1) \u2014 i.e., a small performance bump on a stock vehicle \u2014 isn\u2019t dangerous, as long as it's done by someone who knows what they\u2019re doing.\nThere\u2019s no need for dramatic logging or complicated testing, and dyno testing is not mandatory.\nThat said, it\u2019s always a good idea to perform an initial inspection of the car and check everything is in good shape. We also like to do a final log run after tuning, just to make sure everything\u2019s working as it should \u2014 even for Stage 1.\n\n\ud83d\udc49 That\u2019s also why we don\u2019t offer tuning \u201cwhile you wait\u201d \u2014 not even for basic maps.\nWe prefer to do things properly, and we\u2019ll be happy to explain everything in more detail via DM on Instagram or our Facebook page.
